Therapy & Testing Services

Types of therapy and testing and what to expect

Psychotherapy (also called talk therapy)

Ages 4-104

Individuals, families, and/or couples

Your first appointment is usually a biopsychosocial diagnostic assessment and usually takes 1-1.5 hours as the therapist learns about your background and needs. For children, a legal parent or guardian must be present.

The therapist will also determine the appropriate frequency of sessions at this time. Most psychotherapy is scheduled for weekly 1-hour appointments. It may be in-person or virtual.

Therapy sessions may cover a wide variety of topics, such as grief, anxiety, relationships, parenting, trauma, coping skills (for symptoms of ADHD, autism, etc.), non-opiod addiction recovery, or goal setting.

Court Programs

By referral from local courts

If you are accepted to a court program in Newton, Rockdale or Walton, you may also recieve information on mandatory or optional groups, therapy or evaluations through SEPA. If you recieved a call or text from SEPA regarding these services, please return the call at 678-712-6520 or email us at consumer.relations@sepsych.com. If you do not respond to messages, that information will be relayed back to the judge.

Psychological Evaluations

Ages 4 & up

Our psychologists can provide evaluations such as psychological evaluations, substance abuse assessments, parent-child evaluations, and more. Some evaluations are specifically done for court or DFCS cases, and some may not be eligible for filing on insurance. Please contact us for more information.

On the day of testing,  you will be in the office for 4+ hours as you complete written assessments and interviews. You may bring snacks or drinks, or leave to get lunch. You will not be able to supervise children while completing the assessments. For children, a legal parent or guardian must be present.

Some insurance plans will not cover these services, so please check with staff in advance about expected costs. Payment is due in full at the time of service. If you need to work around time constraints (child care, transportation, etc.), please notify staff when scheduling.
